In honor of Teachers Appreciation Week last week we asked you to tell us who your favorite teacher is. The most worthy story would win a set of our award winning Touchtronic Letters for the teacher. We had many outstanding entries and are super excited to announce that Ms Brouttier, of McKinley Elementary, Bakersfield, CA, is the winner! Read her amazing and inspiring story here......

"Ms. Brouttier is teacher in a title I low poverty, high crime area in Bakersfield California. She teaches 22 Kindergarten students and is finishing her 3rd year. Within the 3 years that she has been at McKinley Elementary, she has had perfect attendance, first to arrive and most times, last to leave. She is dedicated, not because she has to but because she wants to. She loves each of her students as if they were her own. She provides them with the love and safe environment they crave and often do not get outside of the school. Every winter, she supplies her students with warm coats and socks, delivers a hot meal on Thanksgiving day, and brings Christmas to the classroom knowing fully well that this may be the only opportunity for some holiday cheer in their life. She has applied for and won several grants for her kids. Recently, she purchased iPads and was granted $1000 to spend on school supplies. She believes that to teach a child, you must love them first; acknowledge and listen to them always. Her classroom is full of color and happiness. Though the parents of her students are rarely seen (many of them incarcerated or un-involved) she goes out of her way to contact them and inform them of how proud she is of their child. She is a bright shining star in a rough community. She deserves this and I truly hope you see that."

Thank you Ms Brouttier for the wonderful work you do with your kindergarten students. We hope you enjoy using the Touchtronic Letters with your class.
